AI Operating Layer · Built for Yards

Charge into the storm. Come out the other side stronger.

When a storm rolls in, most cattle turn and run. A bison turns into it and charges — through faster, out sooner. Most operators are running from AI. We help you charge in.

Rylo AI Systems builds the operating layer of your business — voice, scheduling, quoting, invoicing, follow-up — so AI multiplies your team instead of replacing them. Hope over hype.

The Thesis

We call them "OS" on purpose. AI is the new operating layer of every business.

Not a feature you bolt on. Not a tool your admin uses on the side. The operating system itself — the layer that connects your people, your tools, and your resources so the work happens whether you're standing there or not.

The What

AI as the operating system

Every business is the same shape underneath: people, tools, resources, and the systems that connect them. AI is the next operating layer over all of that. Rylo OS - Yard and Rylo OS - Dirt are the first two productized expressions. The engine generalizes.

The How

Multiply your team, don't replace them

Volume work goes to the AI — phones, scheduling, invoicing, follow-up. Judgment work stays with the human, because that's where the value is. One operator with the right agents is worth a five-person back office.

The Why

Hope over hype

Most AI marketing right now sells fear (you're behind, you'll be replaced) or magic (no humans needed). Both are noise. Rylo's stance is hope — AI is a tool that makes you bigger, not smaller.

First Two Expressions

Two productized starting points. Same engine. Different industries.

Rylo OS - Yard and Rylo OS - Dirt are the first two packaged versions of the Rylo engine. If you're in an adjacent dirt/rock/build trade and the operational pattern matches, we'll build a fit version for you — just ask.

Inside the Engine

Six modules. The volume work goes here. Your judgment stays where it belongs.

Every Rylo system is built from the same proven modules. Configuration changes by vertical. The core engine — and the human-in-loop on every judgment call — doesn't.

  1. 01 / MODULE

    Voice & SMS Answering

Inbound calls answered 24/7 in a natural voice. Prices quoted, orders taken, deliveries booked.

  2. 02 / MODULE

    Quoting & Invoicing

Job params in → estimate out. Invoice triggers on delivery complete or milestone. Day 7/14/21 follow-up.

  3. 03 / MODULE

    Scheduling & Dispatch

Deliveries and jobs booked into your calendar with conflict detection. 6 AM driver/crew briefings.

  4. 04 / MODULE

    Inventory & Alerts

Yard worker EOD stock updates. When a SKU drops below threshold, owner gets a reorder draft.

  5. 05 / MODULE

    Reviews & Reputation

Google review request 24h after every completed job. AI drafts responses for your one-tap approval.

  6. 06 / MODULE

    7 AM Owner Briefing

Yesterday's revenue, today's deliveries, overdue invoices, low stock, the one thing to look at — under 180 words.

Why Rylo

There's a wrong way and a right way to bring AI into your business.

Most of what's being sold in the AI space is either fear ("you're behind") or magic ("no humans needed"). Both are noise. Here's the third option.

How AI usually gets sold

Fear-driven. Generic. Built for everybody — which means built for nobody.

  • Pitched as "replace your people" instead of multiply them
  • Built for every small business on Google — no operator in the room when it was designed
  • Doesn't know what a tri-axle load or a #57 stone is
  • One-time setup, then crickets when something breaks
  • Monthly SaaS fee with nobody accountable for outcomes
  • The pitch leans on fear: hurry up or get left behind
The Rylo Way

Operator-led. Hope-forward. Built for the dirt/rock/build world by someone who's lived in it.

  • Multiplies your team — judgment stays human, volume work goes to the AI
  • Trade-fluent: speaks yards, tons, haul cycles, zone maps, fill spec
  • Built by a P.E. with 15 years operating across mining, aggregates, and excavation
  • Install plus retainer — we stay in the seat after launch, not before
  • Founder takes every intro call. Local to Northern KY. Accountable.
  • The pitch is hope: charge in, multiply, come out the other side stronger
Who We Serve

Built first for the dirt, rock, and build world.

The founder speaks this language natively — mining engineer, 15 years operating yards, drilling, and excavation. Rylo OS - Yard and Rylo OS - Dirt are the two productized starting points. The engine generalizes.

Rylo OS - Yard

Landscape & Aggregate Supply Yards

Independent yards, $500K – $2M revenue, 3–8 employees, selling mulch, rock, sand, decorative stone, or topsoil. Owner answers the phone after hours. No CRM. Paper tickets.

  • · Landscape Material Yards
  • · Aggregate & Crushed Stone Retail
  • · Mulch & Decorative Stone Suppliers
  • · Topsoil, Sand & Gravel Yards
Rylo OS - Dirt

Small Excavation Contractors

Excavation and site-prep contractors, $1M – $3M revenue, 5–12 employees. Estimates take a week. Photos get lost. A/R runs over 45 days.

  • · Site Preparation & Rough Grading
  • · Basement Excavation & Digging
  • · Septic, Utility & Drainage Installs
  • · Light Demolition & Site Cleanup
Adjacent trades & beyond

The same engine works for drilling & blasting, materials wholesale, site contractors, owner-operated construction, and other dirt/rock/build operations where the pattern matches — phone is the commerce channel, the owner is the bottleneck, and back-office work eats nights and weekends. We'd rather tell you it's not a fit than take your money and underdeliver.

Rung 04 · The Build

Two productized systems. Locked pricing. Nothing hidden.

When the audit points to a build, here's exactly what it costs. Two ways to pay — install upfront, or no install fee on a 12-month commitment.

Rylo OS - Yard · Landscape & Aggregate Supply

For supply yards doing $500K – $2M/yr. Replaces a part-time office admin ($42K – $54K/yr all-in) and captures the calls that currently roll to voicemail. Standard is the tier we recommend for most yards.

Install timelines cover inbound voice and your existing tools. Outbound texting and calling need carrier registration and regulatory approval, which can add roughly 1–3 weeks outside our control — we start it on day one so it runs alongside the build.

Rung 05 · The Monthly Partnership

The monthly fee in every build tier above is your partnership tier — we don't disappear at launch. Three levels, month-to-month, 30-day notice to cancel.

Hosted + Monitored

$750–$1.5K / month

We host the system, monitor it, respond to errors, and run a monthly health check. Your system stays up and current.

Hosted + Iterating

$1.5K–$3K / month

Everything in Monitored, plus a standing monthly working session for prompt tuning, new flows, and small features as your operation changes.

Strategic Partner

$3K–$6K / month

Everything in Iterating, plus a quarterly business review, an audit refresh, and priority response (4-hour SLA). The founder stays in the seat.

Pass-through vendor costs (Twilio, Retell, Anthropic, Resend) are billed at cost plus a small handling margin. No long-term contract, ever.

The Founder

Not another AI consultant. An operations engineer who builds the thing.

Jon May, P.E. spent 15 years running aggregates, mining, and drilling operations across Appalachia — Coal-Mac, Pine Branch Mining, and Blackhawk Mining. Licensed Professional Engineer. General Manager roles. Crews, rock, margins, haul cycles, silt fence spec.

Rylo is a family company in the literal sense. The name is Ryland plus Logan — Jon's son and daughter. Ryland's nickname is Rhino. Built for the long arc, not a quick exit.

The Rylo playbook is operations engineering before it's AI. Every business is the same shape underneath: people, tools, resources, and the systems that connect them so the owner isn't the bottleneck.

"AI isn't coming for your business. It's becoming the operating layer of it. The operators who charge in head-first — the way a bison charges a storm — come out the other side stronger."
— Jon May, P.E. · Founder, Rylo AI Systems
FAQ

Common questions, honest answers.

If yours isn't here, ask it on the intro call — that's what the call is for.

Where should I start — do I have to commit to a build? +

No. Rylo is a ladder, not a leap. Start free with an AI receptionist (Free Phone Sally, 50 calls/mo). Step up to a $249 ROI Snapshot, a $7,500 operations audit, a full Rylo OS - Yard or Rylo OS - Dirt build, and a monthly partnership only when the numbers make sense. Each rung credits toward the next — the $249 credits to the audit, the audit credits to the build. See the full ladder and claim your free line at /start.

How much does Rylo OS - Yard or Rylo OS - Dirt cost? +

We publish full pricing — see the Pricing section above. Rylo OS - Yard starts at $2,500 install + $1,200/mo (Starter), with Standard at $3,500/$1,750 and Premium at $5,500/$2,750. Rylo OS - Dirt Starter is $3,500/$1,750, Standard $5,500/$2,500, Premium $8,000/$3,750. No discovery-call gotchas. No "contact us for a quote."

How long does it take to set up? +

14–21 calendar days from signed agreement to live, depending on tier. Outbound texting and calling are the one variable — business SMS and automated calls need carrier registration and regulatory approval (industry-standard ~1–3 weeks) before they can go live. We start that on day 1 so it runs in parallel with the build, and inbound voice isn't affected.

Do I have to switch from QuickBooks or my existing software? +

No. Rylo OS - Yard and Rylo OS - Dirt are designed to work with what you already have — QuickBooks, your existing phone number, your Google Business Profile. We connect to your tools, we don't replace them. If you're on something we haven't seen, we'll tell you on the intro call.

What's the difference between Rylo OS - Yard and Rylo OS - Dirt? +

Rylo OS - Yard is for businesses that sell loose material by the cubic yard or ton — mulch, rock, sand, decorative stone, topsoil. It quotes prices, books deliveries, and chases invoices. Rylo OS - Dirt is for contractors who do the digging — site prep, excavation, grading, basements. It qualifies leads, drafts estimates, parses crew texts, and handles A/R. Same engine. Different verticals.

What happens if the AI quotes a price wrong or makes a mistake? +

Every Rylo system has a human-in-loop checkpoint at the points that matter. Pricing edge cases get flagged for owner review. Estimates get drafted by AI but finalized by you. Customer-facing responses on sensitive topics route through staff approval. The AI handles volume; you keep judgment.

Can I cancel? Are there long-term contracts? +

Month-to-month. 30-day written notice to end a retainer. No multi-year contracts. No cancellation fees. The install fee is one-time upfront; everything after is a flexible retainer.

Why a 15-minute intro call instead of just signing up? +

Because we'd rather tell you Rylo isn't a fit than take your money and underdeliver. The intro call is fit-checking — what's actually broken in your operation, what tier matches it, whether we should even build for you. No pitch deck. No demo dance.

What if my customer wants to talk to a real person? +

The voice AI has hard-coded escalation. If the customer asks for a human, the call routes to your existing line or voicemail. Same with text — if the AI can't confidently handle something, it queues for staff review before any response goes out.
